What Is a Third-Party Lawsuit and Can You File One?<\/h1>\n

A third-party lawsuit is a claim against someone other than your employer whose negligence caused your workplace accident.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

If you or a loved one were seriously hurt at work and need ongoing medical treatment, you should file for workers\u2019 compensation benefits<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/div>\n

But if another person or contractor\u2019s negligence caused the accident, you may also be entitled to additional compensation through a third-party claim.
