If you are required to attend an IME, keep these tips in mind:<\/p>\n
Be brief, honest, and direct. Do not exaggerate or minimize your symptoms.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Avoid casual conversation. The doctor may report everything you say.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Do not do anything that causes pain or discomfort unless specifically asked.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Remember that the exam begins the moment you arrive\u2014even walking from the parking lot can be observed and reported.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
The goal of the IME doctor is to look for inconsistencies or signs that your injury is not as serious as claimed. Be cautious and prepared.<\/p>\n
