LaTonya was going through what was supposed to be a closely monitored, high-risk pregnancy. But something didn’t add up.
Her timeline had been miscalculated. Because of that, she didn’t receive the treatment that could have helped her baby develop before birth.
Her son, Jeremiah, was born extremely early and needed immediate care. He spent over eight months in the hospital on breathing support. For weeks, she couldn’t even hold him.
At that point, nothing else mattered. Her focus was getting Jeremiah through it.
Today, Jeremiah is doing well.
LaTonya wasn’t looking to pursue anything legally. She just wanted her son to be okay. It was her family who helped her step back and realize that what happened shouldn’t have happened.
When we got involved, the goal was simple. Make sure she had the right support, the right doctors, and the space to focus on Jeremiah.
We stayed in touch, helped guide the process, and made sure she wasn’t dealing with everything on her own.
What meant the most to her was that it never felt like just a case. It felt personal. And even now, we still check in.
Over time, LaTonya turned what she went through into something meaningful. She now helps other families going through medical challenges and supports parents facing similar situations.
She continues to pay that experience forward.
She took one of the hardest experiences of her life and turned it into a way to help other families going through the same thing.
